A popular allegation places the selection or rewriting of the Bible at Constantine's council in 325. Surviving council texts instead address doctrine and church discipline, while ancient book lists show recognized, disputed and rejected writings rather than one imperial selection event. Eusebius, the Muratorian fragment and Athanasius also reveal genuine disagreements over religious authority. These records challenge the specific Nicaea plot without treating every difference between Christian canons as a conspiracy.
