BAASS's field years, 2009 to 2010, are documented in four files from the Pentagon's October 2026 UAP release: monthly reports for April, June and November 2009 (D170, D171, D173) and a November 2010 self-assessment of its analysis capabilities (D175). They record roadside encounters such as a black triangle over an Arkansas highway, Project Northern Tier's study of the 1975 overflights of nuclear bases, a team sent to Brazil, plans for an underground vault for recovered hardware and biological samples, and computer simulations of the 2004 Tic Tac encounter. AARO's 2024 history says the DIA never sought or specifically authorized the contractor's UFO research; believers see a program that took the threat seriously.
