Giant of Kandahar

In 2002, a U.S. Army squad went missing in a remote mountain region of Kandahar, Afghanistan. A rescue unit tracked them to a massive cave littered with discarded military gear.A 13-foot-tall giant emerged from the cave and impaled a soldier with a spear. The remaining soldiers opened fire, ultimately killing the creature with sustained headshots. The military allegedly packed the giant's corpse into a net and flew it away on a cargo helicopter.

In 2002, a U.S. Army Special Forces squad went completely radio-silent while patrolling a remote, jagged mountain range in the Kandahar province of Afghanistan. Fearing an ambush or capture, the military dispatched a second elite rescue unit to track them down. The rescue team followed the missing squad's last known coordinates deep into the mountains, eventually arriving at a massive plateau. There, they discovered a gaping cave opening surrounded by discarded, broken military equipment, shredded gear, and traces of bone.As the soldiers advanced to investigate, a humanoid figure emerged from the darkness of the cave:

  • The creature stood roughly 13 feet tall and weighed an estimated 1,100 pounds.
  • It possessed anatomical anomalies, specifically six fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot.
  • Its physical strength was immense, and it caught the squad by surprise.

Before the team could react, the giant lunged and impaled a soldier—often identified as "Dan"—with a massive, primitive spear. The remaining team members opened fire with their M4 rifles, .50-caliber weapons, and M203 grenade launchers. It took a sustained, minutes-long barrage of high-caliber bullets targeted strictly at the creature's face and head to finally bring it down.Immediately after the battle, a heavy-lift cargo helicopter arrived. The military wrapped the massive corpse in a net, secured it to the chopper's underbelly, and flew it to an undisclosed base. The surviving soldiers were forced to sign strict non-disclosure agreements, and all official records of the incident were buried.

The Connection to the NephilimThe connection between the Kandahar story and ancient theology was popularized in large part by L.A. Marzulli, an author and filmmaker who interviews a pseudonymous military witness called "Shooter." Theorists point to specific physical and geographic details to link the event to the Nephilim mentioned in Genesis 6:4 and the Book of Numbers:

  • The Anatomy of the Giants: Biblical texts and apocryphal texts like the Book of Enoch describe the Nephilim and their descendants (like the Rephaim) as having physical deformities, most notably polydactyly. The giant's six fingers and six toes mirror the biblical description of a giant from Gath in 2 Samuel 21:20, who had "six fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot
  • "Geographic Relevance: In ancient texts, the region spanning modern-day Iran, Afghanistan, and the Middle East is often described as the stomping ground for early human civilizations and ancient tribes of giants. Some researchers claim these caves served as subterranean hiding spots that allowed a small population of these entities to survive hidden from modern society for thousands of years.
  • The Cover-Up Concept: Theorists argue that mainstream science and the U.S. government deliberately hide these encounters. They claim that admitting the existence of a living Nephilim would validate biblical history and upend the standard evolutionary timeline, which is why the body was allegedly flown away to a hidden facility like Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.
