Between roughly 1992 and 1999 Spain's Ministry of Defence and Air Force declassified about eighty UFO dossiers (~1,900 pages, cases 1962–1995) now in the Biblioteca Virtual de Defensa; J. J. Benítez denounced the process as wholesale manipulation aimed at Vicente-Juan Ballester Olmos and MOA/MAC officers favoring prosaic closures.
